Penn Brewery Opening New Tap Room In Downtown Pittsburgh

As we have shared, existing breweries in Pennsylvania are expanding constantly, and adding to that growth is Penn Brewery as they plan to open a new tap room in downtown Pittsburgh at 440 First Ave. The new 750 square foot space will be located in the bottom of the 1st Avenue Loft Apartments in the Firstside Historic District.

“The Penn Taproom will be the only spot to serve craft beer within a four-block radius, and it’s the only brewery taproom in downtown Pittsburgh,” said Sandy Cindrich, Penn’s president and CEO.  “It’s the perfect place to grab an after-work beer, or a quick workday lunch.”

The new 35-seat Taproom is located on the first floor of the new First Ave. Lofts apartments and next door to the Fairfield Hotel & Suites (currently under construction). The Taproom is within easy walking distance of Blvd. of the Allies, the Distrikt Hotel, the PNC Firstside Center, and the First Ave. T station.

The Taproom will feature twelve taps of Penn Beers, and will include an array of Penn beers including year-round favorites such as Pilsner and Penn Gold; seasonal selections such at St. Nick Bock and Chocolate Meltdown Stout; and limited-release small-batch beers such as Parking Chair 2X IPA, so guests have a large variety of styles to choose from.  Additionally, the menu will offer 14 items including appetizers, salads, soups, and sandwiches, perfect for either eat-in or grab & go. Growler fills and six-pack will also be available for sale, along with Penn-logoed apparel and other merchandise.

The Penn Taproom  can also be rented out for private events.

Penn Brewery, opened in 1986, is Pittsburgh’s oldest and largest brewery. Penn specializes in award-winning German-style craft beers, and serves traditional “Euro-Pittsburgh” fare including wurst, schnitzel, pierogi, and goulash, in its restaurant.  The Brewery is located in Deutschtown on Pittsburgh’s North Side, in the mid nineteenth-century landmark E&O Brewery Building, with  satellite locations at Pittsburgh International Airport and 432 First Ave. in downtown Pittsburgh. Penn is independently owned and operated.
