Love City Brewing To Host Sit Down Sessions In Wake Of Craft Beer Industry Claims Of Discrimination

By now you have most likely heard the stories sweeping the craft beer industry of misogyny, racism, sexism, and other forms of discrimination. The story here does a fantastic job of breaking it down.

Breweries all across the country have responded in many different ways; both those accused as fostering acts of discrimination and those not directly involved but showing solidarity.

In response to the events that occurred, Philadelphia’s Love City Brewing (who was not named in any accusations) has invited individuals to their brewery for a variety of different sessions to address the topic of discrimination in the craft brewing landscape.

The brewery, which is founded on a principle of building community and respect, recently posted over social media that they would be hosting two sessions; one for females and another for males. Both are aimed at fostering discussion of how the local industry moves forward and ways in which we as community members can have a positive impact.

You can see the post here, but details on the sessions from the brewery are below:

“On Thursday, May 27 from 4 – 10pm, we’re hosting a hangout for women, femme, and enby friends in the craft beer industry. Brewers, sales reps, marketing, FOH, BOH – if you work in the beer industry, you’re invited. This isn’t a formal meeting, it’s just a space to gather, be with each other, talk about things (or not) and enjoy some beers (we’ll have some for you, and you can bring your own too).”

“On Thursday, June 3 from 5 – 9pm, we’re hosting a gathering for men, masc, and enby friends in the beer industry. This is for anyone who read these stories and was sickened. It will be an open discussion of the current state of craft beer and how we can make it better. Since men are often in positions of power in the industry, it’s a time to talk to others about how to use that power.”

For those looking to attend these sessions, Love City Brewing is located at 1023 Hamilton Street in Philadelphia.
