Iron Pint Brewing Opens In Altoona For To Go Beer Purchases

It’s not quite a grand opening….but that shouldn’t stop us from celebrating. Iron Pint Brewing officially opens for business on Friday, April 24th. Obviously, the brewery cannot be open for traditional bar service, but if you are local you can still grab their handcrafted beer.

Starting Friday, the brewery will be open from 3:30pm to 8:00pm for growler fills to go. The brewery asks that you bring your own growlers as they do not currently have any available for purchase.

The beers available will be:

• Milk Man (milk stout) – 5% ABV – sweetened with lactose. roasted taste
• Gimme a Reason (brown ale) – 7% ABV- brewed with molasses and brown sugar
• Dabbler #1 (IPA) – 7.2% ABV- brewed with amarillo hops and sweet orange peel, 75 IBUs
• Dabbler #2 (IPA) – 5.3% ABV – brewed with ekuanot hops, 50 IBUs
• Father in Law (pilsner) – 3.7% ABV – extra light, brewed with barley and corn

For those not familiar with Iron Pint, let us share a bit more of who they are from our recent visit. Opening at 601 7th Avenue in Altoona, the brewery is run by owners Jonathan Patton and Ross Diehl.

What was once a former auto shop now turned brewery embodies the personality of the town of Altoona. As two natives of the city, Jonathan and Ross bring their passion for brewing beer that will focus on the flavors locals have come to appreciate.

During our visit, we enjoyed the offerings Iron Pint has already produced

The name Iron Pint is inspired in part by the large I-beam that runs through the brewery. This was original with the location that Iron Pint has made the main focus of the brand.

The 3,000 square foot, 3 bbl brewery features tables that have been reclaimed from bowling lanes and an elevated stage for live entertainment. The goal is for the brewery to offer a full tap list of 15 draft pours offering a wide variety along with a selection of Pennsylvania wine and spirits once fully operational.

Accompanying the brewery will be an affiliated kitchen space under the same roof. While not officially a part of the Iron Pint brand, the kitchen will be the complete food provider of the brewery. The Mad Cook will offer a full food menu catered specifically towards the rotating beers on tap in the brewery.
