Forest & Main Brings Charming City Style Pub To Montco Suburbs

Rivaling the charm of the quirkiest and most unique brew pubs you’ll find, Ambler’s Forest & Main Brewing Co. has brought the hip and distinct feel of city brew pubs to the suburbs, cementing itself as a standout among Montco breweries.

Once inside this old Victorian, you’ll feel right at home, quite literally. Forest & Main was once a house before being converted into a brewery in 2012. Old dining rooms and bedrooms are used for guest seating, giving patrons the sense that this is a brewery unlike any other.

The bar, which is the best feature, is located on the first floor, in what used to be a sitting room. In this cozy, hand-crafted 6-seat bar, you can sip beers and view artwork from local artists. The artisan experience is carried on throughout the house, including the bathrooms with their distinct murals.

The funky-fun vibe is expressed in their beers as well. There’s usually something for everyone as F&M’s beer selection is focused on a blend of English and Belgian-French style ales. A standard selection of 5 drafts and 3 casks can be found at its bar. If you are looking for more selection, stop at the brewery’s other location next door, a larger open space with double the drafts. One thing to note is that Forest & Main does not  offer flights, so the smallest pour you can buy is a 10 ounce (the largest is 20 ounces), so be warned if you’re daring enough to try them all. Cheers!

Beer to Try: Temporary Short Pants: A British bitter that is light but has a full taste and finish, with a low 3.9% ABV so you can have more than one.

Go: Forest & Main – 61 N. Main St., Ambler, PA. Check www.forestandmain.com for operating hours and current draft lists.
