Newtown Brewing Company Set To Open The First Brewery In Newtown Township

As of this writing Newtown Township, Pennsylvania does not have a craft brewery. That all changes when the Newtown Brewing Company opens in their 4,600 square foot brewery in the industrial park at 103 Penns Trail. We recently toured the location with owner and head brewer Gregg Bonstein and his wife Sara. You can see their story here.

This family focused brewery is planning a Spring 2019 opening with plenty to offer the local area. What was once a former interior design company has been stripped down to the studs to make room for the townships first brewery. Newtown will operate a 7 bbl system (along with four 7 bbl fermenters) and offer ten rotating taps with eight of their beers as well as cider options.

As we learned this may be Gregg’s first step into the brewery owner spotlight, however he has the credentials to back it up. Gregg spent 10 years in brewing prior to opening Newtown. 8 years as a homebrewer and the last 2 years as a commercial brewer at Triumph and Blueprint Brewing Companies. Beyond that he is a chemical engineer by trade, so when it comes to brewing up recipes you know you are in good hands.

Newtown will be a kid friendly brewery, offering a family friendly atmosphere meant to be enjoyed by all who visit. With seating for 70 in the location there will be plenty of space to roam around and make new friends. The brewery will also offer a private event space that will fit a group of up to 32.

Construction is still taking place. But see inside the soon to be brewery from our visit (some photos courtesy Newtown social media):

They will offer a wide variety of beer. From light and dark lagers, Belgian, pale ale’s, IPA’s and plenty of specialty beers. All served directly from brite tanks right behind the bar! Wine and cider will also be available to complete a robust experience for all guests; both hardened beer lovers and not. Newtown will not have a kitchen onsite, however do plan on working with local eateries as well as food trucks to offer options.

The brewery is planning for a spring open. Construction is still underway but will be complete in no time. While you cannot physically visit, we recommend you check them out online to stay up to date. Visit them on Facebook, Instagram or their website.

We will continue to update as they get closer to opening.
