Wit or Witout from St. Benjamin Brewing Co.

Wit or Witout is a Belgian-style witbier, a wheat beer with 5.1% ABV from St. Benjamin Brewing Co. out of Philadelphia. Witbiers are distinguished by their higher levels of carbonation, a cloudy appearance and the use of spices like coriander.

Wit or Witout pours to a pale, light wheat color with thin white head that quickly dissolves as bubbles consistently stream upward before bursting at its surface. The aroma is subtle, some notes of pale malt come through as well as wheat-like biscuit and yeasty brightness.

This witbier begins with a wheat forward, somewhat tart flavor with accents of lemon, orange and a bit of spice. Wit or Witout’s considerable carbonation produce a clean and crisp finish that is refreshing and ushers in the next sip from this lighter-bodied beer that won’t leave you overly full.

The lawnmower beer, the weekender, whatever you want to call the beer you can enjoy in multiples that will also quench your thirst in the warmer months, this beer is it. This is the beer you cut the wedge of orange and drop in to bring out those underlying citrus flavors that brighten this beer even more.
