Whole Punch: Keylime Pie from Hitchhiker Brewing Co.

Whole Punch is a Key Lime Pie American-style IPA with 6.6% ABV from Hitchhiker Brewing Co. out of Pittsburgh, PA. This IPA variant was made through the milkshake style made popular by Tired Hands and Omnipollo, of milk sugar during the brewing process.

This IPA pours to a hazy, tropical yellow with a soft, pillowy white head that leaves plenty of lacing in its wake. The aroma is a welcoming mixture of floral hops and juicy citrus, particularly from the lemon and lime zest used in its creation.

Hopped with Amarillo, Citra and Motueka this pale ale definitely leans on the juicy side as all of the island fruit flavors make their way through. Thinner than other versions of the milkshake style allow for brew that is easily crushed in pairs as it is anything but heavy.

The copious amounts of lime juice and citrus zest created a somewhat tangy finish, a bright flavor burst that makes for a refreshing flavor best suited for warm days. A bit of the graham crackers and vanilla bean that Hictchhiker conditioned this on lend some sweetness that makes its way through when Whole Punch warms.

Overall Whole Punch is another fun entry into the milkshake genre that provides a little something different with its bright flavor and slightly more crushable body.
