Technicolor Splendor from Tired Hands Brewing Co.

Technicolor Splendor is an American double pale ale with 8% ABV from Ardmore, Pennsylvania’s Tired Hands Brewing Co. Well known for their high quality doubles and gaining increasing popularity for their freaky can art, Technicolor Splendor easily satisfies both of those categories.

The pour and color is everything you’d expect from a Tired Hands pale ale, it’s hyper hazy, golden yellow and with a dense white head that leaves plenty of lacing in its wake. Passionfruit, grapefruit and other tropical aromas, like mango waft delightfully from your glass, all thanks to this singularly Simcoe hopped brew.

Tired Hands does an excellent job of getting all of the flavor they can out of just Simcoe, the nose is full of orange citrus flavor, creamy and juicy. Other flavors make their way as the glass continues, namely other tropical fruits and an appropriate amount of hoppy bitterness, but not so much as to overwhelm the other flavors.

A bit thinner than some other double out there this craft beer allows bitterness to slowly build as the drink progresses with only a bit lingering in between joyful gulps. Technicolor Splendor is another masterclass in just what a talented brewery can do with only one hop, how they can get its full flavor and achieve a nuanced profile.
