Surprise! It’s Another IPA is a 7.1% ABV/70 IBU India Pale Ale from St. Boniface Craft Brewing Company out of Ephrata PA.
Brewed with Azacca, Citra, and Falconer’s Flight hops, this brew was made available as a can release at the brewery and on tap at the brewery. We can only hope this makes it into the regular rotation of cans!
Pouring to a hazy/cloudy orangish yellow you will get a small off white head that dissipates quickly. Strong smells of floral/earthy hops are quick to hit your nose. You can almost tell how citrusy this is going to taste but just smelling it!
Tasting this Surprise is exactly what you would expect out of a NEIPA. This hazy orange “juicebomb” has a nice clean hop bite and gives off great grapefruit flavors. A medium body and not much hop bitterness make this a smooth drinking IPA. Surprise ends crisp, and if not for the 7% you could have a few of these at a time!
