Simon Girty from Draai Laag Brewing Company is an 8% Belgian Strong Dark Ale, available in 1 PT 0.9 FL. OZ bottles. The ale is brewed with honey, cocoa, and orange peel, and is recommended to age this a year or two. It is said that this beer becomes more intense tasting at room temperature, and can be aged for a max of 5 years.

Simon Girty, the person, was an American frontiersman, born near Harrisburg PA. A very controversial figure from history, he defected during the Revolution (referred to as a turncoat) to the British and led Indian raids on his own people.

Pouring to an orange/brown color with a tan head, this beer is best served in a trappist, tulip, or tumbler glass. Aromas of dark fruit and malt, with rich flavors of cocoa, orange, and dark malts. A little tart, this beer is also unfiltered, so you will see some sediment that has settled since bottling.
