Siberian Highway from Grist House Craft Brewery

Siberian Highway is a 9.3% ABV/50 IBU Russian Imperial Stout from Grist House Craft Brewery (Pittsburgh, PA). This beer was released for Grist House’s 3rd Anniversary. It is named after The Siberian Highway or Siberian Route, which was a famous trading route connecting Russia, Siberia, and China.

Grist House brewed this beer with generous amounts of Cinnamon, Cocoa Nibs, Vanilla Beans, and Coffee to an already big and bold barrel aged Russian Imperial Stout. Part of SH was aged for three years in bourbon barrels and then blended with a newer batch of their Black in the USSR stout.

Pouring to a very dark black you’ll get a small light brown head in your glass. The aromas we noticed were: fresh coffee, chocolate, and some spices.

Tasting SH brings bold flavors of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, some vanilla, and bourbon sweetness. The body is thick, starting off with the roasted coffee, then a long finish of sweet chocolate and bourbon.

Grist House continues to make great beers, we had them featured at our latest event Pittsburgh Invades Philly!
