Rye IPA from Vault Brewing Company

This Rye Pale Ale is an American Pale Ale made in Yardley, PA by the folks over at Vault Brewing.  The ale showcases the use of rye malt, rye flakes and rye crystal malt hopped delicately with Simcoe and Mosaic hops.  As a fan of both rye ales and Vault Brewing, this seemed like a no-brainer to pick up from my local bottle shop after work.  Upon checking the bottom, I noticed that this beer was just canned a day ago, which made me even more excited to enjoy this ale.

After I cleaned and rinsed my glass for enjoyment, I cracked the can open and was immediately hit with the aroma of stone fruit from the Simcoe and Mosaic that were used in this brew.  Upon pouring, the color struck my eye: a beautiful golden amber with a decent head filled my glass.  At first sniff the aromas of stone fruit and bready malt intensified and delivered on the palate on my first sip.  The mouthfeel of this beer was excellent through the use of the flaked rye which coated my mouth and finished dry as a solid pale ale should. As the beer warmed a bit, the bready and spicy notes of the rye started to come through more which played well with the tropical and citrus hops.  At 5.3% ABV and 43 IBU, this beer is perfect for grabbing a four pack and sessioning.

Keep an eye out for black pounder cans of “Yardley’s Finest” at your local bottle shop, as they are expanding their reach around Pennsylvania, or stop by their brewery at 10 S Main St, Yardley, PA 19067 to try it on tap and bring some home to share.
