Rodeo Clown from Stable 12 Brewing Co.

Rodeo Clown is a Russian imperial stout with 12% ABV from Phoenixville’s, Stable 12 Brewing Co. Rodeo Clown is the other half of the brewery’s first can release that also featured their Wild West IPA, each released in 16 oz. cans.

It pours to a dark brown, black color with a lighter brown, thin head is just enough to coat the rim. The aroma is primarily notes of roasted coffee and dark chocolate that works as a nice compliment to the syrupy, bourbon-like sweetness also emanating from your glass.

Some of the sweetness remains into first sips, but enough complex malty flavors even out this full bodied brew. Despite its robust alcohol content this stout is as smooth as they come with almost no boozy flavor, but all of the enjoyable warmth. Having had the benefit of trying this one at several stages of aging it is remarkable how quickly Rodeo Clown mellowed into an even imperial stout.

Rodeo Clown is an excellent winter warmer and it benefits tremendously from being canned as it can now be enjoyed in multiple in the comfort of your own home.
