Reaper’s Harvest is a 7% hoppy rye ale from Helltown Brewing out of Mount Pleasant PA.
Available in the fall, this full-bodied IPA is brewed with rye malts and hopped with Simcoe and Columbus, and has spice characteristics from both.
The brew pours a copper brown with a decent white head. Aromas of rye, spicy hops, pine, grapefruit, and caramel malt. Tasting you get the tropical fruit flavors from the hops used, and toffee flavor malt with spicy rye flavors as well. The beer is very drinkable, has a mild amount of carbonation, and is medium bodied. At 7% this could creep up on you after a few!
This was our first beer from Helltown Brewery and we were impressed. We sampled this from a bottle, and are told its just as great, if not better, on draft! Our suggestion – go find this quickly. And left us know if you find this or any other brews from Helltown!
