Mean Squeeze from Weyerbacher Brewing Company

Mean Squeeze is a 7% ABV New England style IPA from Weyerbacher Brewing Company (Easton, PA). Brewed with 30% oats, 70% pilsner malts, it has no bittering hops. Hopped with Denali and Galaxy in the whirlpool, it was dry hopped twice with the same!

Pouring to a medium gold color (we used a Sempli glass) you will notice a thick white head with lots of lacing. Smells of tropical fruits (passionfruit, pineapple, guava, grapefruit) are very apparent. We also noticed a little pine on the nose making us want to drink this immediately.

Flavors of those dank floral hops you would assume since this is hopped with Denali and Galaxy. You’ll notice grapefruit, mango, pineapple, and some slight peppercorn spicyness. This beer is juicy throughout and finishes with a slight piney bitterness, but not dry at all.

Mean Squeeze is not a “hop bomb” but it’s approachable by non IPA drinkers and doesn’t bite like some high IBU beers do. With a medium mouthfeel and body, you’ll want to find this one.

Get this beer soon, as it was only brewed exclusively for Wegmans” 18 locations. We can’t wait to see what other variations come out in this style from Weyerbacher!
