Kushy Clouds from Sole Artisan Ales

Kushy Clouds is an American Pale Ale with 5.3% ABV from Sole Artisan Ales, a gypsy brewery making great brews wherever their brewing sails take them. With a history linking him to Weyerbacher, Funk, Shipyard and others, Joe Percoco has the experience and local roots that are quickly making Søle a major player in Pennsylvania’s brewing game.

Officially an intergalactic oatmeal pale ale, Kushy pours to a vibrant wheat color that is quite hazy, but still allows for a good amount of light to pass through. It’s pillowy soft, cloud-like head quickly dissolves releasing an aroma of tropical fruit, definitely pineapple with some mango and guava.

First sips reveal a hop forward flavor that is quite bitter, but incredibly smooth on the finish. Made with flaked oatmeal this brew almost has a creamy texture, even and lightly carbonated it finishes with absolutely no bite.

Kushy clouds is a lot like blasting off into outer space, it releases an initial blast of hops, but once you clear the atmosphere you’re left to just float and enjoy the aura of it all. It’s a brew that can satisfy both hopheads and more moderate palettes alike. You get all the hop flavor you’ll ever need, but its attention to balance and creaminess make it very easy going down.
