Hop Project No. 002 is a 6.8% ABV/70 IBU IPA recently released by Sly Fox Brewing Company (Phoenixville/Pottstown, PA). Brewed with Centennial, Simcoe and Denali hops, this brew is the second installation, following up No. 001 which was released in February 2017.
Pouring to a beautiful light orange gold color with a big fluffy white head, you’ll get lots of lacing in your glass. This beer in can form pours from a 360 can, if you don’t know what that means click HERE.
The 360 can design allows for the entire lid to be removed, allowing you to drink the beer like it was out of a glass. This style increases aroma and taste and is a must try!
The nose on this beer is pretty dank, which is from the Simcoe hops. We also noticed notes of floral fruits such as grapefruit, pineapple, as well as some resin. We couldn’t smell any of the malts.
Tasting Hop Project No. 002 brings flavors of fruits (melons, pineapple, grapefruit), piney hops, and some light sweet malts. This beer starts off with the resiny hops right away, and finishes slightly dry with the bitterness dying down.
Lighter on the mouthfeel, this beer was light to moderately carbonated and practically begs you to take another sip! If you can find it, try it before it leaves the shelves!
