Gus from Full Pint Brewing Company

Gus is an American IPA from Full Pint Brewing Company with an ABV of 8.0%. Deriving its name from a local blues musician this brew aims to take your pain away, or at least drown your sorrows in a fine ale.

Pouring to an extremely hazy glowing orange color you’ll notice bright aromatic notes of citrus, particularly orange. Best poured into a pint or tulip glass Gus produces a thin off-white head that lingers when drinking and produces some lacing on the sides of the glass.

Brewed with Simcoe, Columbus and Cascade hops first sips of this brew are full of big hop flavor with citrus accents. The high alpha composition in the Simcoe and Columbus are apparent as it is extremely bitter, not surprising to see this beer’s IBUs well over 100. On top of its bitter profile there is plenty of warmth from its robust ABV making Gus anything but a lightweight beverage.

An excellent beer for hopheads this can be thought of as a toned down 120 Minute IPA from Dogfish Head, it’s just a bitter and hoppy, but you can have more than one of Full Pint’s offering without hitting the floor. Pilsner and Session IPA fans should either look elsewhere or should at least be prepared for a more intense tasting experience.
