General Washington’s Tavern Porter is a porter brewed in the traditional English style with 7.0% ABV from Yards Brewing Company out of Philadelphia. Taking its inspiration from Washington’s original recipe which itself was a take on Robert Hare’s famous Philadelphia-style porter.  

This porter’s pour is a dark brown color that let’s in just enough light around its edges with a thin, white head. The aroma is dark and roasty with a hint of heavy sweetness from the molasses. 

Balance, balance, balance is what Tavern Porter is all about. There’s plenty of dark chocolate, coffee and fig notes upfront. Any bitterness quickly equalizes with a sweeter malt and caramel backbone. 

Yards has brought a classical style with a classical sense of balance that strikes an even ground between bitter and sweet.
