Gelato is an 8% ABV/40 IBU double IPA from South County Brewing Company (Fawn Grove, PA). This version of Gelato is strawberry lemon, and includes over 400 lbs of puree, a blend of malts and oats, and lactose sugar to make this a smooth drinking IPA.

This is another rotating series of beers, similar to their Intervals series. South County aims to recreate beer versions of your favorite desserts, using purees, spices, and other special ingredients.
Pouring to a light orange color, you will get a decent strong head. You will also notice moderate lacing in your glass as you drink. Aromas of fresh cut lemons and strawberries are very apparent on the nose, as well as a small pine scent.
Tasting this Gelato version brings those fresh lemon and strawberry flavors you would expect, as well as more dank tropical fruit flavors of some pineapple and mango. We noticed some of the sweet milk sugar notes and just a small amount of hop bitterness. With a thin and smooth body, and moderate carbonation, Strawberry Lemon Gelato is a dangerous 8%!
