Fresh Off the Canning Line: Snuffler IPA from Sterling Pig Brewery

The Sterling Pig Brewery is excited to announce their first-ever can release of their popular house IPA; Snuffler, which will be hitting shelves starting Thursday, September 21st.  The easy-drinking year-round brew is a 6% ABV with just the right amount of Simcoe, Centennial, Crystal and Citra hops to excite your palate.  Snuffler has been a favorite of many patrons, often being brought home in growlers and crowlers alike, so the ability to bring home a six pack or case of this brew home to share will make fans of the brewery even more happy.

Head brewer Brian McConnell has been anxiously awaiting the release of cans of their flagship brews since their successful bottle releases of Saison D’Hiver and Big Gunz.  It is truly an exciting time for the Media brewpub and their patrons.

While the announcement may have seemingly come as a pleasant surprise to many, Sterling Pig Brewery has had various changes from expanding their brewhouse to their distribution and the demand for their beer has increased steadily. The exciting changes have also included an internal change, with longtime assistant Tony Cunha departing to become head brewer at upcoming Mudhen Brewing Company in Wildwood, NJ and Chris Devito stepping in to fill his shoes. To meet demand, Sterling Pig has asked Sly Fox Brewing Company to brew a few contract batches of Snuffler as their kegs continue to travel to new and longtime destinations beyond the brewpub.

After being pleased with the results of the contract brew, Sterling Pig has decided to enlist them for canning their first cans of Snuffler. With Sly Fox’s optimized canning line, featuring a Krones Craftmate that can fill 15,000 cans in an hour, the decision was easy for Sterling Pig to conduct a contract brew and canning with the Pottstown brewery.

While this batch of Snuffler was brewed remotely, it will taste like home with head brewer Brian McConnell and Sterling Pig’s yeast being on hand for the brew days of the 120 barrel batch.  As a hardworking brewery, simply brewing the 120 barrel batch was not enough, as Chris Devito was back home in Media brewing the latest batch of Le Grand Pamplemousse saison, keeping operations rolling and production of Sterling Pig Beer at a record 135 barrels with their help from Sly Fox.  This work ethic will ensure that there will be more exciting announcements for the brewery to come.
