Fresh Hops of Bel Air is an American pale ale with 7.2% ABV and marks the final entry into Manayunk Brewing Company’s hip hop IPA series. Previous entries included Hoptastic Voyage, Sir Dank A Lot and Baby Got Hops.
“Bel Air” pours to a clear and vibrant orange-golden color with a thin white head that quickly dissolves into a fine ring at the top of this brew. Aromas of citrus, particularly orange, mix with hints of grapefruit and pineapple.
The headlining flavor however is that of juicy, hoppy bitterness, strong and assertive it greets drinker’s first sips. Flavors mellow into a finish where the nuance of orange and other citrus fruit profiles crop up and round things out.
Overall the finish has a bit of lingering hoppy bite, but only enough to encourage you to go back for more in search of another juicy, fruity, hop-filled gulp. Newcomers to Manayunk’s brand of IPA have a great introduction to their hoppy, tropical flavored ales while lover’s of the ‘Yunk get more of what they’ve always enjoyed.
