Event Review: The Philly Beer Mansion

The Philly Beer Mansion was a beer festival hosted by Brooklyn Brewery on Friday August 11th and Saturday the 12th at the Woodlands Cemetery. While the festival was hosted by Brooklyn Brewery, there was no shortage of PA Beers to sample. The list included:

  • St. Benjamin Bayside Sea Salt Saison
  • Free Will Micromanager
  • Evil Genius So This Is What It Feels Like When Doves Cry
  • Free Will Kragle IPA
  • Evil Genius Gwyneth Paltrow’s Head Was In The Box Blood Orange IPA
  • Levante Panic Room DIPA
  • St. Benjamin Yellowhammer Pils (Brewed specifically for Beer Mansion)
  • Levante Kilibri Kolsch
  • And many more!

It’s easy to lump all beer festivals as the same. Tents, 5 ounce pours, maybe a specialty beer or two. However, this wasn’t your normal beer festival, this was an event that truly encompassed the art of beer. As soon as you walked in there were signs that pointed you to the food court, beer tents and interactive sessions being done on beer. You could have gone to the “Anatomy of Beer” session or check out the bloody mary bar. There was something for everyone!

And of course, you never want to drink on an empty stomach. Food trucks from Local 215 and Revolution Taco were set up in the Eatery to make sure you stayed full.

Didn’t want to pay for food? We understand. You could have headed over to the “Garden of Eatin”. Or as visitors to the beer fest knew it as a wall full of free chips!

However the food and interactive activities weren’t the only non beer related fun that visitors could have had. If you headed into “The Darkness” (a room dedicated to dark beers) you could have let time pass by playing on a custom Beer Mansion arcade machine, or the one next to it with Super Smash Brothers (a classic).

As we wrote before, this was not your normal run of the mill beer fest. While there was plenty of beer to sample on, there was also so much more. Games, interactive sessions, amazing food and other fun activities. Also, when else will you be able to drink through a graveyard without having your mugshot taken later that day?

So when this event comes back around in 2018, you should definitely mark your calendar and head on over!
