Draai Laag Brewing In Pittsburgh Is Closing

As of March 7th, Draai Laag brewing will be no more.

But don’t be too sad!

While the name Draai Laag will be gone, the owners and staff behind the beer will stay the same, as they will begin operating under the name Strange Roots Experimental Ales.

In addition to the name change, STRE will explore more brewing variations, including styles they haven’t produced yet. They’re also going to open a second tasting room at their production facility in Gibsonia, PA, while continuing to operate their taproom in Millvale.

The taplists at both locations will still have the farmhouse ales and sours that Draai Laag has made their name on, there will just be many more styles to choose from.

As noted on their site, below is the motivation behind the name change:

After a lot of thought and even more beers, we’ve decided there are some things we want to do a little differently – like explore more brewing variations, get creative with styles we haven’t made before, and open a second tasting room at our new production facility in Gibsonia. That means a wide variety of new beers you can drink right where we brew ‘em.

Draai Laag is opening it’s doors to and questions during the transition to make everything as transparent for their loyal customers. Dennis will be at the Millvale taproom on Friday, March 2nd from 5-7pm during the final bottle release.

The final bottle release under the Draai Laag name will be a special beer called Dance of Death.
