Citrus IPA is a 7% ABV American Pale Ale from the Emmaus, PA based Funk Brewing Company. This brew pours to a vibrant golden yellow with a cloud white head that slowly dissolves leaving some lacing. Fruity and floral there are aromatic notes of grapefruit, orange, tropical fruit and a hint of pine on the nose. As expected in an IPA there is a hop forward flavor, however Citrus is of the juicier variety without much bitterness.

Hopped with Simcoe, Mosaic and Citra as well as the experimental hop LemonBomb there’s as much fruit flavor as you’d expect-a ton. With such tropical slanted hops in play you can expect to taste papaya, mango, pineapple and other island fruits. The Simcoe usage does produce a hint of pine flavor, but it is minimal and serves only as a background flavor.

With a medium to light body this ale doesn’t stick to your tongue and leaves very little aftertaste. A very crushable beer it pairs well with a summer salad or a big bowl of fruit while sitting by the pool on a blazing summer day.
