Citra Must Be Destroyed! is a 10.5% ABV/ 102 IBU double IPA from Spring House Brewing Company out of Lancaster PA.
By now it should be obvious what hop shines in this beer – Citra. Other hops are used (Chinook, Amarillo, Simcoe) but it’s the Citra that dominates and gives this hoppy IPA it’s name.
This double IPA pours to a clear golden color with a bright white head and a small amount of lacing is apparent. Smells of resinous and floral hops smack you in the face, along with aromas of biscuit and some caramel notes.
Tasting Citra Must Be Destroyed! brings earthy and floral hops along with grapefruit and some of those bread and caramel flavors you smelled before. This brew packs a punch of alcohol (10.5%) so it’s definitely a sipper and not a quick drinking beer.
Moderately bitter and lightly sweet, you’ll notice a big warming dry alcohol finish on this one. It is moderately carbonated as well giving it a nice medium body.
