Brewed with: Pretty Bird Coffee, Vermont Maple Syrup, Lactose

ABV: 8%

IBU: 23

Vault Breakfast Stout is conditioned on ninety pounds of Yardley, PA’s Pretty Bird coffee along with Vermont maple syrup and lactose to produce a smooth, creamy and luxurious version of their Oatmeal Stout, which serves as the base of this beer. This beer is available on nitro at their Yardley brewpub and in nitro cans at fine craft beer stores near you.

Before opening this beer, I let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to ensure proper serving temperature to unlock all the flavors of this beast. The beer poured a rich dark color as the nitrogen cascades up the glass and forms a thick white head. Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate and maple syrup were present as I took the glass to my nose. A generous dose of coffee entered my palate at first sip, followed by rich notes of chocolate and the stickiness of maple syrup and the addition of lactose allowed these flavors to linger on my palate throughout the course of enjoying this tasty brew by Vault. As the beer warmed and much to my delight, the chocolate and coffee notes intensified each time I went for another sip. Vault Breakfast Stout is one beer that is definitely worth revisiting and one that I plan on grabbing the next time I see it.

Stay tuned for more from Vault Brewing Company and in the meantime pick up any of their releases when you see them. If you don’t see them at your local bottle shop, be sure to ask them to carry their beer!
