Adam’s Stout is a vanilla bean stout with 5.8% ABV from Liquid Hero Brewing Co., out of York, PA. Adam’s is available year round in 12 oz. cans as a flagship brew alongside their Extended Stay IPA, Irregardless IPA and American Hero amber ale.
In usual stout fashion the pour is a deep brown with a lighter, khaki colored head that sits atop the brew before slowly dissolving. There’s a prominant roasted malt aroma, a toasty welcoming scent that goes well alongside some of the subtle vanilla on the nose.
The roasty aroma leads perfectly into a malt forward flavor that is robust and bold, but definitely not sweet. As the stout warms some notes of caramel and vanilla do make their way towards the forefront without ever completely dominating the flavor.
Those afraid of the vanilla bean title leading to an overly sweet experience should not be worried. This is a balanced, if not even slightly more roasted, mildly bitter stout that can enjoyed with a meal or as a dessert beer.
